New Staff on Trinidad Campus

As the 2011-12 year gets underway, there are some new faces among faculty and staff on the Trinidad campus. Some of the new members of the TSJC family are:


Marsha Bartulec

Marsha Bartulec

Marsha Bartulec is TSJC’s new Career and Technical Education Advisor. Her office is located in Berg 201. Prior to joining TSJC, Bartulec worked for Danielson Designs as the Key Accounts Manager. Before moving to Trinidad, she worked for Union College in Lincoln Nebraska.

Bartulec received her undergrad degree from Union College (Lincoln, NE) in International Studies with an emphasis in Communication and her graduate degree from Doane College (Lincoln, NE) in Management with an emphasis in Leadership and Co-active Coaching.

Bartulec said that she enjoys playing sports, mountain biking, hiking, baking, painting and meeting new people.


Ashley Lisonbee

Ashley Lisonbee

Ashley Lisonbee is TSJC’s Admissions and Recruitment Specialist. She is an alumnus of TSJC, having received her AS degree in May 2008.

After graduating from Trinidad State, she transferred to Texas A&M University where she received a BS degree in December 2010. Lisonbee said that there is no place like TSJC, and that is why she came back!


James Schultz

James Schultz

James Schultz has joined Trinidad State Junior College as a Senior Accountant. His office is located in Berg 102.

Schultz earned a BS degree in Business Administration from California Polytechnic State University, and brings over 25 years’ experience in accounting to TSJC.


Carl Cannon

Carl Cannon

Carl Cannon is the Southern Colorado Line Technician instructor. He has worked more than 35 years as a lineman/foreman. He has an undergraduate degree in electronics and served a 4 year apprenticeship for the line profession.

Cannon said his goal is to offer his experience and knowledge to students interested in the power line profession and to enhance the knowledge of inquiring minds.

He enjoys riding his 4-wheeler, camping, hunting, and spending quality time with his family and friends, especially his grandson.


Emily Chavez

Emily Chavez

Emily Chavez is the newest member of TSJC’s cosmetology faculty. She enrolled in Cosmetology in 1980 at TSJC and graduated a year later.

She worked in area salons for several years, and in 1998 she returned to TSJC to earn her credentials to teach cosmetology.


Glenda Lopez

Glenda Lopez

Glenda Lopez is the Development Program Coordinator. She assists in processing student scholarships and her office is located in Berg 108.

Prior to coming to TSJC she was employed with Pikes Peak Community College. Besides her rewarding work helping students, she said that she loves to camp and fish.


Ryan Newport

Ryan Newport

Ryan Newport is Trinidad State’s newest gunsmithing instructor. He is a 2005 TSJC Gunsmithing School graduate, who said that while he was still a student at TSJC, he had a vision of returning as an instructor. When the position became available, he knew this is where he needed to be.

Prior to coming back to teach at TSJC, Newport was employed as a gunsmith for Browning Arms Co. in Arnold, Missouri.

He and his wife and two children enjoy almost all outdoor activities, especially camping, hiking and hunting.


Sharon Suh

Sharon Suh

Sharon Suh has joined TSJC’s rapidly growing Music Department. She teaches private voice, piano and flute, as well as instructing a variety of the college’s music classes.

She holds a Bachelor of Music degree from University of California, Irvine, and a Master of Music degree from San Francisco Conservatory of Music.


Amanda Vigil Alcon

Amanda Vigil Alcon

Amanda Vigil-Alcon has joined TSJC as an accounting instructor. She was previously employed with New Mexico Highlands University (NMHU) as a Graduate Assistant and later as an Adjunct Professor.

She received her BBA from NMHU with concentration in Finance and went on to earn an MBA with concentration in Human Resource Management.

She said her favorite hobbies include photography, cooking, and outdoor activities like fishing.
