It had always been Mrs. Kerr’s and her late husband’s dream to see their beloved water resource developed for the benefit and education of others. In Mrs. Kerr’s own words, “Through the years, Jim and I brought into our home and raised over 100 youth. Some stayed only a short while and some through high school and beyond to become good citizens and lead productive and fulfilling lives. We always felt education was an integral part in this process. We had great success with the use of animal husbandry which gave the youth something of their own to be responsible for.” With this belief at heart and her own knowledge of aquafarming in mind, Mrs. Kerr was instrumental in helping Trinidad State Junior College develop the Aquaculture Technician Program. |
