Current Stafford Loan interest rates in effect from 07/01/2009 to 06/30/2010
* Subsidized Stafford Loans: fixed rate of 5.6% (In effect for new Stafford loans after July 1, 2009)
* Unsubsidized Stafford Loans: fixed rate of 6.8%
* Plus Loans: fixed rate of 7.9%
In addition, there is a fee that is associated with these loans. The fee will be deducted proportionally from each payment of the loan to the school. Subsidized and Unsubsidized Stafford loans have a loan fee of 1.5% of the loan amount borrowed. PLUS loans have a loan fee of 4% of the loan amount borrowed.
